Striving for Reconciled Personality

Striving for Reconciled Personality

ADERA (Akale Development and Emergency Response Action) is a faith-based Christian charity organization dedicated to freeing people from poverty and helping them experience the fullness of life.
Founded and supported by The Ethiopian Former Evangelical Church Akale Yesus (Lutheran Line), ADERA is legally registered with the Authority for Civil Society Organizations of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, certificate number 7381, issued on August 20, 2024.

Our Understanding of Poverty

ADERA, we believe poverty is not only material — it is relational.
It begins with a broken relationship between humanity and God, leading to brokenness within ourselves, among people, and with creation.

To cooperate with God’s plan of restoration — and strive for reconciled personalities and communities.

Our Strategic Programs

ADERA’s development and humanitarian work is implemented through eight core strategic programs, addressing both immediate needs and long-term transformation:

Peace & Human Dignity

Promoting positive living through peacebuilding, reconciliation, and human rights awareness.

Agriculture & Environment

Supporting sustainable agriculture, environmental protection, and natural resource conservation.

Livelihoods & Youth Empowerment

Building resilient livelihoods and business-based solutions for poor households and unemployed youth.

Education

Expanding access to functional, vocational, and quality basic education for children and adults.

Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)

Improving community water systems, sanitation facilities, and hygiene practices.

Social Care & Inclusion

Supporting orphans, people with disabilities, and the elderly within their own communities.

Health Promotion

Scaling up preventive healthcare, awareness on pandemic diseases, and community-based health education.

Emergency Response

Providing immediate assistance and long-term recovery support for vulnerable families in crisis situations.

The VASS Approach

ADERA’s programs are guided by four practical approaches known as VASS:

V – Volunteerism

Promoting community service and ownership to ensure sustainability beyond external funding.

A – Asset-Based Entry:

Starting development from what communities already have — their local knowledge, resources, and skills.

S – Self-Help Approach

Empowering people to believe in their God-given potential to support themselves and one another.

S – Synergy

Building partnerships with churches, communities, and institutions — because unity is strength.

Our Core Values – The RIPPLE Principles

We honor the God-given dignity of every person, regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, or belief.

We keep our word, act truthfully, and lead by example.

We help individuals and communities find peace with God, with themselves, and with one another.

We believe in working with people, not for them — unlocking their potential to overcome poverty.

Love is our foundation. We stand beside the vulnerable with compassion and care.

We practice fairness and justice in every decision, plan, and program.
