Our Strategic Programs

Our Strategic Programs

ADERA’s development and humanitarian work is implemented through eight core strategic programs, addressing both immediate needs and long-term transformation:

Peace & Human Dignity

Peace and human dignity are strengthened through intentional efforts that support positive and harmonious living. This includes ongoing work in peace building, reconciliation, and the nurturing of relationships across communities. By raising awareness of human rights and encouraging mutual respect, individuals and societies can create a foundation where dignity is upheld and peace can flourish.

Agriculture & Environment

Agriculture and the environment are deeply interconnected, making it essential to support sustainable farming practices that protect our planet. By prioritizing environmental protection, communities can ensure cleaner air, healthier ecosystems, and long-term food security. Natural resource conservation also plays a crucial role, helping preserve soil, water, and biodiversity for future generations, i.e. to sustain land and life.

Education

Education plays a vital role in shaping opportunities, and expanding access to functional, vocational, and quality basic education ensures that both children and adults can thrive. By broadening educational pathways, communities empower individuals to develop essential life and work skills. These opportunities help bridge social and economic gaps, fostering greater independence and long-term stability. Ultimately, improving access to meaningful education strengthens societies and supports sustainable growth for future generations.

Social Care & Inclusion

Social Care and Inclusion provides insights and advisory services on social security programs and investment instruments, helping individuals and communities make informed decisions. The organization focuses on supporting vulnerable populations, including people with disabilities, elders, and orphans, ensuring they receive the care and resources they need. By working within their living environments, Social Care and Inclusion promotes accessibility, empowerment, and well-being. Its comprehensive approach combines financial guidance with social support to foster inclusive and sustainable communities.

Humanitarian Assistance

Humanitarian assistance involves providing both immediate aid and long-term support to vulnerable families affected by crises. This type of assistance ensures that essential needs are met during emergencies in alleviating suffering and promoting resilience in communities facing adversity. Beyond addressing urgent needs, it also focuses on helping families to strategically anticipate, respond and adapt to and recover from crises in rebuilding their lives over time.

Livelihoods & Youth Empowerment

Livelihoods and youth empowerment initiatives aim to build resilient income sources and foster sustainable opportunities for growth. These efforts focus on developing business-based solutions that help poor households strengthen their economic stability. At the same time, they provide unemployed youth with the tools, skills, and confidence needed to pursue meaningful work. Together, these strategies create a pathway toward long-term self-reliance and community development.

Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)

Water, Sanitation & Hygiene are essential pillars of healthy and resilient communities. Improving community water systems ensures that people have reliable access to clean and safe drinking water. Enhancing sanitation facilities helps prevent the spread of disease and supports overall public health. Promoting strong hygiene practices further reinforces these efforts, creating a sustainable environment where individuals and families can thrive.

Health Promotion

Health promotion focuses on enhancing overall well-being by emphasizing preventive healthcare measures. It involves scaling up initiatives that help individuals and communities avoid illness before it occurs. Awareness campaigns on pandemic diseases play a crucial role in informing the public about risks and preventive strategies. Additionally, community-based health education empowers people with the knowledge and resources needed to make healthier choices in their daily lives.

The VASS Approach

ADERA’s programs are guided by four practical approaches known as VASS:

V – Volunteerism

Promoting community service and ownership to ensure sustainability beyond external funding.

A – Asset-Based Entry:

Starting development from what communities already have — their local knowledge, resources, and skills.

S – Self-Help Approach

Empowering people to believe in their God-given potential to support themselves and one another.

S – Synergy

Building partnerships with churches, communities, and institutions — because unity is strength.

Our Core Values – The RIPPLE Principles

Our work is guided by six foundational values — summarized as RIPPLE, because small acts of goodness create waves of transformation.

Respect

We honor the God-given dignity of every person, regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, or belief.

Integrity

We keep our word, act truthfully, and lead by example.

Peace

We help individuals and communities find peace with God, with themselves, and with one another.

Participation

We believe in working with people, not for them — unlocking their potential to overcome poverty.

Love

Love is our foundation. We stand beside the vulnerable with compassion and care.

Equity

We practice fairness and justice in every decision, plan, and program
